- Gujarat Man Gets Death Sentence For Stabbing Teen 34 Times In March 2021

A Rajkot court has sentenced a man to death for stabbing a Class 11 student 34 times in Gujarat. The minor girl had rejected the proposal of this man, after which he got angry and attacked the girl with a knife and killed her.
When the girl’s brother tried to save her, the accused attacked him too. The matter is of March 2021, on which the court has now given its verdict. The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge RR Chaudhary has placed this case in the category of rarest of the rare.

Case was registered against the accused under POCSO
The name of the accused is Jayesh Sarvaiya. A case was registered against him under several acts of the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act. Public Prosecutor Jhanak Patel said that the court sentenced the accused to death under section 302 of the IPC and also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000. This murder had shaken the whole community, so the court took it very seriously. The court has given the convict one month’s time to file an appeal.

The accused went to the girl’s house to propose her
The accused man and the girl named Srishti were residents of Jetalsar village in Jetpur. The accused youth was harassing Srishti for a long time. On 16 March 2021, he took the proposal to her house. When Srishti rejected his proposal, he became enraged and started fighting with her.
On trying to escape, Srishti stumbled and fell outside the house. As soon as he fell, Jayesh started attacking him with a knife. He stabbed Srishti 34 times and also injured her brother with a knife. After this, he came out of the market wearing blood-stained clothes and carrying a knife in his hand, but no one tried to catch him.
Crime is more serious than Nirbhaya incident
Public Prosecutor Jhanak Patel said that every attack on Srishti was such that a human being could be killed. So it can be said that Jayesh has not only killed Srishti but also 34 people. He further said that during the hearing of this case, the testimony of 51 witnesses has been taken. At that time, a charge sheet of 200 to 216 pages was also filed in the court by the police. In my view, the Srishti Rayani murder case is more serious and painful than the Nirbhaya case.
