After the introduction of vaccination of 15-17 year old children in the country, now 12-14 year old children will also be vaccinated against corona. According to Dr NK Arora, chief of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization (NTAGI) on Kovid-19, these children will get the vaccine from March. At present, the third wave of corona in the country is not taking its name to stop. In the last 24 hours, 2 lakh 58 thousand 89 new corona infected have been found.

Till now 45% of 15-17 year olds have been vaccinated with the first dose.

In a conversation with The Times of India, Arora said that so far 3.31 crore children aged 15-17 years have received the first dose of the vaccine in the country. This means, 45% of babies are vaccinated with the first dose in just 13 days. The vaccination campaign for 15-17 year olds started from 3 January 2022.

12-14 year olds will get the vaccine from the beginning of March

Arora says that by the end of January, 7.4 crore children aged 15-17 years will get the first dose of the corona vaccine. After this, the second dose will be started to these children from the beginning of February. By the end of the month, all of them will get the second dose of the vaccine. After this, children of 12-14 years can start giving the vaccine from the end of February or the beginning of March.

Teenagers are a priority for the government

According to Arora, children in the age group of 12-17 years are very much like adults. Therefore, when it comes to vaccination, these children are the priority of the government. According to him, teenagers are quite dynamic. They interact with each other in schools and colleges, which increases the risk of corona infection. In such a situation, it is very important to vaccinate them as soon as possible.

Dr Pramod Jog, former president of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, says that the government should also bring children in the age group of 5-14 years suffering from any disease under the ambit of the vaccine.

76% people in the country fully vaccinated

So far more than 157 crore vaccine doses have been given in the country. In the last 24 hours, more than 39 lakh new people were vaccinated. At the same time, 76% of the people of the country are vaccinated with the second dose.
