Children Hostage: Six children of Jharkhand hostage in Andhra Pradesh for not paying fees, promised free education

Six children of Ranka village in Garhwa district, who were enrolled in a school in Andhra Pradesh, have been taken hostage. These children have been held hostage for not paying school fees, while the families of these children say that they were told that there would be free education here.

Rajnath Oraon of Barwahi has appealed to the President of the Garhwa Child Welfare Committee (CWC) to free all the six children, including his four sons and daughters. On his application, the CWC informed Child Line of Andhra Pradesh about the captive children.

Rajnath has told in the application that Rehla’s Somlata Tiwari had approached him on the pretext of enrolling children in a good school and free education till graduation. He had told that there is an English medium school for orphans in Chennai which gives free education. For enrollment only, 50 thousand rupees will have to be paid per child.

After this he gave money to Somlata. After taking the money, the children were sent to Samalkot in Andhra Pradesh and not to Chennai. At the time of admission, it was told that free education is given here. A few days later, when he went to pick up the children, he was asked for a fee. The school management refused to drop the children without charging fees. The hostage children include Rajnath’s daughter Rita, Amrita, sons Amit and Ashish Minj, besides his brother Kanhai Oraon’s son Vivek and Jethu Manjhi’s daughter Sushila.
