Kerala government will seek permission to kill dogs
The state government on Monday decided to approach the Supreme Court as the cases of stray dog bites increased in Kerala. Minister MB Rajesh said that the situation is serious. We have decided to approach the Supreme Court and come up with several plans to stop the increasing cases of dog bites.
He said that the state government with the help of local authorities, NGOs, women self-help groups would conduct the campaign for a month from September 20. We will identify hot spots and build canine shelters. In the past few months, despite taking the rabies vaccine, cases of dog bites have increased. There have been five deaths so far.
Over one lakh dog bites in last 8 months
According to the data of the Health Ministry of Kerala, more than one lakh dog bite cases have been reported in the last eight months. 14 people have died, out of which five people died despite getting the Intravenal Rabies Vaccine.
Talking about the figures of the last five years, one lakh 48 thousand 899 in 2018, one lakh 61 thousand 55 in 2019, one lakh 60 thousand 483 in 2020, two lakh 21 thousand 379 in 2021 and one lakh 21 thousand in 2022. Huh.
