Punjab Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua.

Punjab Chief Secretary (CS) VK Janjua likes the full name. He has ordered that his full name should be written as Vijay Kumar Janjua. A letter has also been written to all government departments in this regard. Janjua has recently been made the Chief Secretary of Punjab. He replaces Anirudh Tiwari, who was appointed in the previous Congress government. However, what is the matter behind the order to write their full names?

Promotion and appointment has been challenged in the High Court
The promotion and appointment of VK Janjua has been challenged in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. TR Mishra, who filed the petition, says that the corruption case against Janjua is pending. VK Janjua was arrested by the Vigilance Bureau on November 9, 2009, for allegedly taking a bribe of 2 lakhs while being the Director Industries. This amount was claimed to be taken from a Ludhiana based businessman. On the same day a case was registered against Janjua and he was removed from the post.

Case during Akali government, clean chit in Congress
When the case was registered against VK Janjua, the Akali-BJP coalition government was in the state at that time. It was also discussed at that time that he was implicated because of not bowing down to the pressure of the government. However, he got a clean chit when the Captain Amarinder Singh-led Congress government came to power in 2017. Being an IAS officer, approval was not taken from the central government to run the case against him. Vigilance refused to pursue the case.
