chemistry: Tutor Shares Answers After Hsc Student Sends Photos Of Paper | Mumbai News – Times of India

MUMBAI: A coaching class owner was arrested by Vile Speak police for circulating answers to some questions in Saturday’s HSC Chemistry paper. A college boy and a girl were booked too.
The girl who arrived late was allowed to write her exam after getting a nod from the board. She was frisked before entering the class. A cellphone was found on her and on WhatsApp, there were answers to Chemistry Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) sent by an individual saved as “Sir”. Further inquiries revealed Mukesh Yadav, the owner of a coaching class, had sent her these answers. On her phone, the police also found a WhatsApp group on which a male student had posted three pages of the Chemistry paper. The WhatsApp group comprises 17 students.
“Investigations revealed that this boy had clicked photos of the Chemistry paper and sent it to Yadav who, in turn, wrote answers to the MCQs and circulated them. We will now probe how many students received answers from Yadav,” said a police officer. Yadav was sent to judicial custody by a magistrate court. Police said he runs a coaching class in Malad and both the boy and girl are his students. Police clarified the duo won’t be arrested given their age (17) and the fact that exams are on. But officers will probe how the boy managed to take photos of the paper when phones are not allowed in exam halls.
The state board said the Chemistry paper cannot be termed as leaked as some parts of the paper had been found on the girl’s phone four minutes after the question papers were given to students for reading. A paper is considered leaked if it is circulated before an exam. “The state government is taking this very seriously and a detailed investigation will take place,” said school education minister Varsha Gaikwad in the state council.
Vile Parle police slapped provisions of IT Act and Maharashtra Prevention of Malpractices at University, Board and other specified Examinations Act in the case.
The Chemistry paper has 10 marks for MCQs. On Saturday, the state board registered 27 cases of cheating in the paper in nine divisions, including the Mumbai case.
On Wednesday and Thursday, five cases each of malpractice were reported in HSC Organisation of Commerce and Management and Physics papers. Vile Parle police said the boy booked by them for clicking photos of the Chemistry paper, also admitted to clicking photos of the Physics paper on his phone and circulating them.
Meanwhile, screenshots of Monday’s Mathematics and Statistics paper made their way to phones in Ahmednagar’s Shrigonda city while exam was on. An education inspector who came across the screenshots filed a complaint.
