Chandrababu Naidu Greeted By Supporters As He Walks Out Of Jail On Bail After 53 Days — WATCH

Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh was on Tuesday released from Rajahmundry jail after 53 days following a decision by the Andhra Pradesh High Court to grant him temporary bail in the AP Skill Development case, allowing him to undergo cataract surgery, news agency PTI reported.

Upon his release, Naidu expressed his gratitude to his supporters for demonstrating unwavering solidarity during his incarceration. He said, “When I was in trouble, you all came on the roads and prayed for me. I will never forget the affection shown to me, not only in Andhra Pradesh but also in Telangana and across the world,” as reported by the news agency ANI.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court granted temporary bail to Naidu for a period of four weeks, considering his medical condition and the need for cataract surgery. The court directed Naidu to appear before the Superintendent of the central prison in Rajamahendravaram on or before November 28.

In its order, the court emphasised the humanitarian perspective and the importance of ensuring that individuals in need of medical attention receive timely and comprehensive treatment. Furthermore, it highlighted the right of the patient to choose the medical facility for their treatment.

As part of the bail conditions, Naidu is required to provide a bail bond of Rs.1,00,000 along with two sureties of the same amount, to the satisfaction of the Trial Court. He must also submit details of the treatment he received and the hospital where he underwent the procedure in a sealed cover to the Superintendent of the Central Prison upon his surrender.

The court also made it clear that Naidu should not engage in any inducement, threat, or promise to dissuade individuals acquainted with the case from disclosing relevant facts to the Court or any other authority.

Naidu was arrested on September 9, accused of misappropriating funds from the Skill Development Corporation, which allegedly resulted in a loss of over Rs 300 crore to the state exchequer.

‘Truth Finally Prevailed’: TDP Hits Out At Ruling YSRCP

The TDP, in response to the bail order, stated, “Babu Is Back. Truth Finally Prevailed.” The party claimed that the ruling Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) had been relentless in its attempts to tarnish Naidu’s image.

“Fearing that High Court or Supreme Court might grant bail as they haven’t proved anything till now, they have manufactured a new case. Time and again, when YSRCP failed to gather strong proof to support their false narrative they concocted another false case yesterday so that they can put a visionary leader behind bars and restrict him to interact with his own people,” the party claimed.

The TDP has organised a rally to celebrate Naidu’s release, spanning from Rajahmundry to Vijayawada, with stops at various towns and cities, underscoring the support and enthusiasm of its leaders and members, the party’s statement informed.
