New Delhi: The day marks the second day of Chaitra Navratri which began on April 2. While the nine days of Navratri are used to worship different incarnations of Goddess Durga, the second day is celebrated by worshipping Goddess Brahmacharini.
Significance
Goddess Brahmacharini is the unmarried form of Goddess Durga which is also known as Sati. She is worshipped in her celibate form. Goddess Brahmacharini or Sati is the one who performed intense penance in order to woo Lord Shiv and marry him.
Goddess Brahmacharini can be seen clad in a white saree with ‘kamandal’, rosary in her hands, and ‘rudraksha’ on her neck.

Goddess Brahmacharini is known to like jasmine flowers and hence is worshipped with jasmine flowers. She is offered rice, milk, curd, honey, sandalwood, vermillion (sindoor), fruits, and sweets.

Goddess Brahmacharini is believed to like Royal Blue which is usually adorned by devotees of this day. It is believed to be the colour of divine energy.
