cesck: Uom Awaits Centre’s Nod For Cesck Works | Mysuru News – Times of India

Mysuru: A delegation headed by MP Pratap Simha has decided to meet Union minister of human resources development (HRD) and its officials to prevail upon the Centre to give approval for an action plan submitted for construction of a full-fledged campus for establishing a Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Kannada (CESCK) in Mysuru.
A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting chaired by the MP to discuss the progress of CESCK campus construction, at Crawford Hall at University of Mysore.
Vice chancellor Prof G Hemantha Kumar said CESCK was cleared by the Centre in 2011, three years after Kannada was accorded classical status. The varsity permitted Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIlL) to open CESCK which was struggling for a location at its campus building behind the PG hostel.
Due to lack of space, CESCK moved its office to University of Mysore’s National Centre for History of Science (NCHS) two years ago and is functioning from there.
As UoM granted 4.2 acres of land on lease to CIIL to build the CESCK campus, it is awaiting a nod from MHRD for the memorandum of understanding.
The CIIL authorities said they had sent a detailed project report to MHRD for building the campus after the state government granted land at UoM.
