- Bengal SSC Scam: CBI Files First Chargesheet, Names Former Minister Partha Chatterjee And 15 Others

CBI has presented the first charge sheet in the West Bengal teacher recruitment scam. The agency filed this chargesheet in Alipore Court on Friday. In this the names of 16 people including former education minister Partha Chatterjee. The ED had arrested Partha Chatterjee and his close aide Arpita Mukherjee. At present, Partha Chatterjee is in the custody of the CBI.
Parth accused in ED’s chargesheet too
Last week, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had filed a charge sheet in this case. The ED had also named former education minister Partha Chatterjee, former board chairman Manik Bhattacharya as accused in the chargesheet. The ED had received cash of 50 crores from the flats of Arpita Mukherjee, a close aide of Partha Chatterjee. During interrogation, Arpita said that these money belonged to Parth. However, the former minister also refused to be the owner of these money.
Questions were raised on CBI investigation
The CBI had started the investigation into the teacher recruitment scam on the orders of the Calcutta High Court. At the same time, later questions were raised on the agency’s investigation process. The Alipore Court judge had raised questions on the CBI’s investigation process. After this, Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay of the High Court also appeared dissatisfied with the agency’s investigation.
Parth was arrested on 23 July
On July 23, the ED arrested Parth from his official residence in Kolkata on charges of money laundering in the teacher recruitment scam. Parth is accused that while being a minister, he took money wrongly instead of giving him a job. 5 days after Parth’s arrest, Mamta Banerjee sacked him from the cabinet.

The hearing on the bail plea of West Bengal teacher recruitment scam accused and jailed former minister Partha Chatterjee was held in the sessions court on Wednesday.
