CAT 2023: IIM Kozhikode Revises Admission Criteria, Introduces 10% Weightage for Gender Diversi

The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode has released an updated admission policy for its management programs for the 2024-25 academic session. Notably, CAT 2023 scores will now hold a definitive 35% weightage in the MBA admissions process. The revised PGP admission policy at IIM Kozhikode introduces significant changes, assigning 10% weightage to gender diversity and 5% to academic diversity. This marks a departure from the previous practice where both aspects collectively accounted for just 10% in candidate shortlisting.

For postgraduate program admissions, IIM Kozhikode will execute a three-stage selection process involving candidate registration, shortlisting for the Writing Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI), and final selection based on CAT 2023 scores, WAT, and PI performance. The institute plans to unveil the shortlisted candidates for stage 2 by the final week of January 2024, with the ultimate merit list slated for release in the second week of May 2024. CAT 2023 is scheduled for November 26.

IIM Kozhikode uses a three-stage selection process for admitting students to the PGP 2024-2026 batch. Each stage has specific criteria and procedures:

Stage 1: Registration Of Candidates Meeting Minimum Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates opting for IIM Kozhikode must secure a positive scaled score in all sections of CAT 2023.
  • Graduates need a minimum aggregate of 60% or equivalent, while CA/CMA(ICWA)/CS holders require 50%. Specific combinations also have criteria.
  • Successful completion of this stage leads to eligibility for the PGP program registration. It’s not an interview call but a pre-interview registration.

Stage 2: Shortlisting For Writing Ability Test (WAT) And Personal Interview (PI)

  • Candidates meeting Stage 1 criteria move to Stage 2, where an Aggregate Index Score (AIS) determines the PI call.
  • AIS comprises CAT 2023 performance, Class X & XII scores, gender/academic diversity, and work experience.
  • Each component’s weightage is predefined, including adjustments for candidates without Class XII marks due to Covid-19.

Stage 3: Final Shortlist

  • Shortlisted candidates from Stage 2 undergo WAT and PI at designated centers.
  • The assessment involves essay writing and PI evaluating various aspects like academic efforts, personality, communication, and work experience.
  • Final scores combine CAT 2023, PI, WAT, and resume evaluation, forming the basis for category-wise merit lists and subsequent admission offers.
