Bengal Governor’s warning came after he filed a defamation case against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the Calcutta High Court

West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Saturday slammed Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over her Raj Bhavan incidents remarks against him and said that “she has crossed all limits”. Hitting out at Banerjee, Bose said that he would not tolerate any disrespect towards his character and stated that the Chief Minister cannot bully or terrify him.

Bose’s warning came after he filed a defamation case against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the Calcutta High Court. His response came in response of Banerjee’s statement that women were afraid to visit Raj Bhavan due to the activities there.

Lashing out at Banerjee, Bengal Governor said, “Mamata Banerjee has crossed all the limits. She has to function within the requirements of civilised conduct. As a Chief Minister, I gave her all regard and respect, considering her as my esteemed constitutional colleague. But she feels that she can bully anybody and cast aspersions on my character.”

“My character is not to be negotiated by an individual like Mamata Banerjee. Any amount of assassination of my self-respect will not be tolerated. She cannot bully or terrify me,” he added.

Further accusing Banerjee of lying, Bose said, “She has not grown up to that. As a chief minister, if she differs from me, certainly there are constitutional provisions to take care of that. As an individual, she has no right to do character assassination through lies. This cannot be allowed. It is not megalomania, it is ‘Mamata mania’ that cannot be tolerated.”

Bengal Governor Files Defamation Against Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on Saturday filed a defamation case against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the Calcutta High Court, reported news agency ANI. Bose earlier in the day criticised Banerjee for her remarks and stated it was expected of public representatives not to create “erroneous and slanderous impressions.

Along with Chief Minister Banerjee, Bengal Governor also filed a defamation suit against certain TMC leaders for making similar remarks, PTI reported citing a source said.

During an administrative meeting in the state secretariat, Banerjee on Thursday claimed that women had informed her they feared visiting Raj Bhavan due to recent incidents. On May 2, a female contractual employee at Raj Bhavan alleged molestation by Bose, prompting a probe by the Kolkata Police.
