Voting is being held for three Lok Sabha and seven assembly seats in the country today. These include two Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh and one in Punjab. At the same time, four assembly seats are included in Tripura and one each in Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand and Delhi. Voting in all the seats has started from 7 am and will continue till 6 pm. The results of the by-elections will be declared on June 26.
By-elections to be held on these seats
The three Lok Sabha seats where voting is going on. They include Azamgarh and Rampur in Uttar Pradesh and Sangrur in Punjab. At the same time, seven assembly seats include Delhi’s Rajendra Nagar, Jharkhand’s Mandar, Andhra Pradesh’s Atmakur and Tripura’s Agartala, Town Bordowali, Soorma and Jubarajgar.
Sangrur Lok Sabha seat fell vacant after Bhagwant Mann became CM
The AAP has fielded Gurmel Singh in the Sangrur Lok Sabha seat, which fell vacant after Bhagwant Mann became the chief minister, while the Congress has fielded Dalveer Singh Goldie and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) only Dhillon. Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) has fielded its chief Simranjit Singh Mann against Kamaldeep Kaur.

Seats vacant in Tripura after resignation of 3 MLAs and death of one
In Tripura, BJP MLAs from Agartala, Bordowali Town and Soorma had resigned, while the CPI(M) MLA from Jubarajagar passed away. Chief Minister Manik Saha has been pitted against Congress’ Ashish Kumar Saha in Bordowali Town seat. In Agartala seat, former BJP MLA Sudip Roy Burman is contesting on Congress ticket against BJP’s Dr Ashok Sinha and CPM’s Krishna Majumdar.
Akhilesh’s brother and Nirhua face to face in Azamgarh seat of UP
In Azamgarh, vacated by SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, the SP has fielded his cousin Dharmendra Yadav against BJP’s Dinesh Lal Yadav alias Nirahua and Bahujan Samaj Party’s Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali. Khan’s loyalist Asim Raza is up against BJP’s Ghanshyam Lodhi in Rampur, Azam Khan’s former constituency. Congress is not contesting elections here.
In the Lok Sabha elections held in 2019, Nirahua was defeated in the contest against SP chief Akhilesh Yadav.
AP’s Atmakur seat fell vacant after MLA’s death
The YSR Congress has fielded his brother Vikram Reddy for the seat that fell vacant after the death of Congress MLA Mekapati Gowtham Reddy in Andhra Pradesh’s Atmakur. BJP has fielded G Bharat Kumar Yadav. TDP is not contesting elections here.
Tirkey’s daughter in fray in Jharkhand’s Mandar seat
The Congress has fielded Tirkey’s daughter Shilpi Neha, while the BJP has fielded Gangotri Kujur in Jharkhand’s Mandar seat, which fell vacant after the conviction of former minister Bandhu Tirkey in a disproportionate assets case.
