Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Friday said the alleged financial irregularities in the purchase of land by the Ram Mandir Trust in Ayodhya was a “suitable case” for investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as well as the Enforcement Directorate (ED). . He said that the BJP’s national executive should pass a resolution demanding a probe by these agencies in the land issue.
Raut was responding to reporters’ query about ED searches in Nagpur and Mumbai on Friday as part of money laundering probe against former state home minister Anil Deshmukh. Hitting out at the BJP’s Maharashtra unit for passing a resolution in its executive body demanding CBI and ED probe against Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Shiv Sena minister Anil Parab, Raut said, “Are the CBI and ED your party workers or members. Huh. IT cell?
The Rajya Sabha member accused the BJP of downplaying the importance of central investigative agencies – the CBI and the ED – “using them to target political rivals”. “Misusing the central investigative agencies is not right. It should stop. It is understandable if agencies investigate cases of national security, damage to national exchequer, money laundering. But why are you maligning the image of these agencies?” Raut asked.
The Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government will complete its two years this year, he said, adding that it will remain stable for the next three years. “Such a strategy to destabilize the government will not work,” he said.
Meanwhile, speaking to reporters in Pune, state Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil said, “The case involving Anil Deshmukh is sub-judice and it would not be appropriate to comment on the ED’s action against him.” In response to a question, he said. Said that it was “very strange” that the ED searches came a day after the state BJP passed a resolution seeking CBI and ED probe against Ajit Pawar and Anil Parab.
“It is time to focus only on COVID-19. But the BJP is doing wrong things at the wrong time,” he said, terming it as “autocratic”.
Talking to reporters, Pethe alleged that the Central government was misusing the CBI and the ED and maligning the MVA government.
