Bus accident in Jammu and Kashmir, 3 killed: 2 buses collide on Jammu-Pathankot highway, 17 passengers injured

A major accident occurred when two buses collided in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday evening. In which 3 people lost their lives and 17 passengers were injured. A 13-year-old girl was also among the dead. The accident happened near Chichi Mata Temple on the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway.

The accident happened when the bus going from Jammu to Haridwar reached near Nanke Chak and the driver had slowed down his bus, at the same time a superfast bus coming from behind hit him at a high speed. Police are searching for the absconding drivers after the accident.

Dr Bharat Bhushan, Medical Officer, Samba District Hospital said that 10 passengers who were moderately injured in the accident have been admitted to Samba District Hospital and 7 seriously injured were admitted to Government Medical College, Jammu. The number of people who lost their lives may increase.

Rescue done with the help of local people
After this horrific incident, there was shouting everywhere. On receiving information about the incident, the police reached the spot and rescued the people trapped in the bus. The injured were rushed to hospitals with the help of local people and police.

All those who lost their lives in the accident have been identified. They have been identified as Kasuri Lal Rajpura, a resident of Samba, Mangi Devi, a woman resident of Batala Punjab, and a girl child, Tania, a resident of Batala Punjab.

Soon after the accident, senior officials of the district administration and police, including District Deputy Commissioner Samba Anuradha Gupta, also reached the hospital to inquire about the condition of the injured. District Commissioner Samba announced Rs one lakh each to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident, 50 thousand to the seriously injured and ten thousand rupees to the minor injured.
