Singer Nayyara Noor, popularly known as ‘Bulbul-e-Pakistan’, has said goodbye to the world, but she will always be with us through her spiritual voice. According to media reports, Noor was 71 years old and was battling cancer. He was undergoing treatment in Karachi for a long time. He re-sung his favorite Begum Akhtar’s ghazal “Woh Jo Hum Mein Tum Mein Kaar Tha, Tumse Yaad Ho Ki Na Yaad Ho”, which was well received by the people. Due to these songs and ghazals, Nayyara’s fans are present not only in Pakistan but all over South Asia including India.

In 2005, he was awarded the President’s Medal by the Government of Pakistan. However, in 2012, the singer officially left the song due to her health. But, do you know that the famous singer of Pakistan has also had a deep connection with India.

But do you know that Pakistani singer Nayyara Noor was born in Assam, India. Noor’s father was an active member of the All India Muslim League. Nayyara had told in an interview that her childhood was spent in Assam, where girls near her house used to ring the bell in the morning, sing bhajans and she used to listen and hum that bhajan to the fullest. This was the time when Noor started falling in love with music.

She had said in the interview, “I could not stop myself, I used to sit there and listen to them till the girls left from there.”

A few years after the partition, his family settled in Pakistan.

Born in Guwahati in 1950, Nayyar Noor’s mother settled in Karachi, Pakistan with her children in 1958, 10 years after India became independent. While his father lived in Assam, India till 1993.

Indian singer used to repeat lyrics of Lata Mangeshkar and Kanan Devi songs

Apart from Begum Akhtar, Nayyara Noor loved the songs of Indian singers Lata Mangeshkar and Kanan Devi. She often used to hum the lyrics of his songs. Singing was banned in his family, especially the father and people on his side did not like all this at all, but later the father understood them and removed the ban.

First got a chance to sing in Lahore’s Youth Festival

In college, Nayyara used to sing among her friends. She had never formally taken any singing lessons, but she listened to the radio. Apart from radio, he loves listening to the ghazals of Begum Akhtar, while among the poets, he liked the poetry of Faiz Ahmed Faiz and Nasir Kazmi. He was once invited to perform the Iqbal Opera at a youth festival in Lahore, where he sang on stage for the first time. After that Noor won the gold medal for singing in the open air in Lahore. During a concert at his college- National College of Arts in Lahore, Professor Asrar Ahmed of Islamia College recognized his talent.

After which he soon got a chance to sing in the Radio Pakistan programs of Noor University. In 1971 Nayyara Noor started playback singing in Pakistani television serials. After this he also sang songs from famous films like ‘Gharana’ and ‘Tansen’. In an interview, she told that she never thought that she would become a singer.

Nayyara Noor had told about the beginning of her song in an interview that “I probably could never understand this thing, there used to be concerts in the National College of Arts and big singers used to come in it. Once Professor Israr had a little while. So my friends said that you sing till they come. When I came down after singing, the professor told me that I have come to tell you that you sing very well and you love this art. Don’t waste it. He is the one who first brought me on the radio. I sang the first Ghazal on the radio itself.”

Nayyara studied at the National College of the Arts, where she first started singing at the university, then started singing on radio and TV. He had previously sung for the same conversation, which went on forever.

Did not learn singing but used to do Riyaz daily

Nayyara Noor did not take any formal education in music. But, she used to do Riyaz for one and a half hours every morning. She had told in an interview that it was a bit difficult to do Riyaz after the children of marriage, but I used to try my best that whatever happens, Riyaz should not be missed. She was married to her fellow singer Shahryar Zaidi, who was very famous in the field of acting. Nayyara has two sons named Jafar Zaidi, Naad-e-Ali Barkha. Jafar Zaidi is also known as the Famous Composer and Singer of Pakistan.
