BTS members are expected to reunite in 2025 after completing their compulsory military enlistment.

South Korean boyband BTS members V and RM took to Weverse to share heartfelt letters to their fandom, ARMY, ahead of their compulsory military enlistment on December 11. The other two members, Jungkook and Jimin are expected to enlist on December 12. In South Korea, all healthy men are expected to serve at least 18 months in the military. The supergroup’s oldest member Jin was first to enlist in the military in 2022. He was followed by J-Hope. Group’s rapper Suga is also serving as a social service agent, an alternative form of military service in the country after he was deemed unfit to join the military on account of his shoulder injury. Suga’s enlistment time is 21 months as opposed to 18 months for other members. BTS members are expected to reunite in 2025 after completing their compulsory military enlistment.

Kim Taehyung, known by his stage name V, shared pictures of his bald head, as is required before joining the military, on Instagram. He also wrote a letter on Weverse in Korean and reassured the fans that while he would miss them, the 18 months would fly by quickly.

The letter loosely translated to, “I think I’m going to miss you so much. To be honest it is a real shame that I can’t have any more happy memories with ARMYs for some time, if it wasn’t for that one thing it would be okay, but not being able to see ARMYs is the hardest. For a long time that is 18 months, I will become healthy and come back so ARMYs, please take care of your health too. If day by day you find things to be happy about, I will appear once again like ‘tada ! im here!’. I have also prepared various things for you during these 18 months so please look forward to it. After I come back, let us make precious memories again as we always have. I really miss you, and I really love you. So you have to wait until then I’ll go and come back quickly! Bye!”

While fans reacted to this wholesome letter with emotional replies, the oldest member Jin responded to the letter in his usual sarcastic and humorous style.

Commenting on V’s letter, Jin wrote, “Really when I enlisted it was like negative 35 degrees and a raging snowstorm and barely enlisted but you’re enlisting at a good time, the world has become a better place.” Fans think that Jin’s lighthearted responses to members’ emotional letters provide much-needed comic relief.
