Budha Amarnath Yatra To Begin From Jammu On Tuesday

The 12-day ‘Budha Amarnath’ pilgrimage in the Poonch border district of Jammu and Kashmir will commence on Tuesday with the first batch departing from Jammu under stringent security measures.

Security has been intensified across the border districts of Jammu, Poonch, and Rajouri in anticipation of the annual yatra, which will run until August 17. In preparation, security forces and police have carried out thorough combing operations along the yatra route and in the surrounding areas of Rajouri, Poonch, and Jammu districts, officials reported.

According to PTI, the yatra will begin early Tuesday morning from Bhagwati Nagar en route to Poonch, with heightened security in place. Devotees will then proceed towards Budha Amarnath, according to Neeraj Doneria, national convener of Bajrang Dal.

Doneria noted that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the yatra, which started in 2005 amidst a period of militancy.
