Palanpur: In a shocking incident, a 15-year-old boy died after getting trapped in a stepwell while trying to catch a kite in Mudeti village of Idar Taluka in Sabarkantha on Sunday morning.
The incident took place at about 12pm on Sunday when the boy, identified as Aayush kumar Sutariya, a student of Class 9 ran after a kite and while trying to reach the falling kite feel into the stepwell filled with mud. According to eyewitness, Aayush was running blindly looking up at the kite only in his attempts to catch it and seeing it slowly falling down made a plunge to catch it but fell inside the Vav. Police have registered a case of accidental death and began investigations.
According to police officials, with the nearing of Makar Sankranti festival, children, especially on Sunday, are playing with kites the whole day without any adult supervision which lead to such tragic circumstances.
