BJP’s lotus has blossomed in Adampur seat of Hisar. BJP won this seat for the first time in its 54-year history. The BJP, which has lost two consecutive by-elections in the last 3 years, broke this connection.

On the other hand, Bhajan Lal’s family managed to save their stronghold. The political clout of the Bhajan Lal family worked in Bhavya’s victory, more than the caste equation and the brilliant strategy of the BJP worked.

The factionalism drowned the Congress. The Congress, which came second, did not get the support of all the leaders of Haryana. Only Bhupendra Hooda and his MP son Deepender Hooda campaigned here. Kumari Selja, Randeep Surjewala and Kiran Choudhary of the other group kept their distance from the campaign. Because of which Congress lost this seat. The people of Adampur rejected the politics of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and INLD.

The factionalism in the Congress is such that the Congress is neither able to form an organization nor is it able to fight the elections together.

When Congress dominated, BJP came into action
There came a time in the election, when this election was going out in the hands of the Bishnoi family. Congress candidate Jai Prakash was becoming dominant. Seeing this, the BJP immediately took down influential leaders including ministers in Adampur. Those who managed to solve the caste equation, as well as gave the public a last opportunity to share power after 26 years.

Haryana CM stamps victory
The final seal on Bhavya’s victory was put by Haryana CM Manohar Lal’s rally in Adampur, when the CM recited the ballads in the glory of former CM Bhajan Lal and reminded the people of Adampur about the wounds inflicted by former CM Bhupendra Singh in 2005. At that time Bhupendra Singh Hooda had become the CM by sideline Bhajan Lal.

The main contest was supposed to be between these three candidates but AAP's Satendra Singh was completely out of the race. The match was only between Bhavya and Jayaprakash.

Read how BJP’s strategy worked
The Adampur by-election may be associated with the legacy of the Bhajanlal family, but the Haryana BJP also made a complete strategy for it. From the candidate selection to the election campaign, the entire work was done by making a strategy.

Read some of its main points :-

  • Kuldeep Bishnoi did not meet after winning. This caused great resentment among the people of Adampur. The BJP sensed it immediately. So instead of Kuldeep, Bhavya Bishnoi was given ticket. BJP also gave a message to the people of Adampur that their displeasure is justified. That’s why Kuldeep was not given a ticket this time.
  • Kuldeep had started campaigning to end 26 years of exile from the day of his resignation. He kept repeating the same thing over and over again throughout the election. People became attracted to join the ruling party.
  • As soon as Kuldeep came to the party, he started development work in Adampur, sitting in the opposition for 26 years. Didn’t wait for the by-election for this. Due to which the trust of the people of Adampur increased.
  • On the last day of campaigning, CM Manohar Lal arrived to campaign. Assured development from the government. He also played an emotional card by appealing to Dadi Jasma Devi to vote for Bhavya.
  • Most importantly, Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala joined the rally and gave a clear signal to the JJP workers to come together.
  • Kuldeep, sensing the displeasure of the voters, made an emotional appeal on behalf of his entire family from the stage in the rally and said that this displeasure should not be converted into votes.

Voting percentage in favor of Bhajanlal family
76.51% voter turnout was recorded in Adampur by-election. This voting % has always been favorable for the victory of former CM Chaudhary Bhajanlal family. Whenever the voter turnout was between 70 to 80% in Adampur seat, the Bhajanlal family managed to win this seat. This time also the figure was in favor of Bhavya Bishnoi who came to save the family stronghold.

  • Last i.e. in 2019, there was 75.79% voting, Kuldeep Bishnoi won in this election. He defeated well-known BJP leader Sonali Phogat by 29 thousand votes.
  • Earlier in the 2014 assembly elections, 78.21% voter turnout was recorded. Then Kuldeep Bishnoi defeated Kulveer Singh of INLD by 17 thousand votes.
  • From 1968 to 2019, only 70 to 81% voting has been done in this seat. Every time the Bhajanlal family has been winning here.

No anti-incumbency wave because the Ellenabad by-election resulted in less voting
Political experts believe that when the turnout is high in the election, it is considered to be a change against the ruling party. Ellenabad by-elections were held in October 2021 before Adampur. In which the voter turnout was more than 81%. INLD won this seat. It was then believed that people’s displeasure towards the government pulled them to the polling station. On the contrary, this figure is not even more than 1% from the last time i.e. 2019, far from equal to the Ellenabad by-election in Adampur.

These reasons became the reason for the defeat of JP of Congress
In Adampur, Congress fielded three-time MP Jayaprakash from Hisar in comparison to Bhavya. However, in the campaign, he only got the support of Congress state president Udaybhan including Bhupendra Hooda and his son Deepender Hooda. Other heavyweight heavyweights of Congress Kumari Selja, Randeep Surjewala and Kiran Chaudhary were not seen. At the same time, no Congress leader from outside reached here to campaign. Which became the reason for the defeat of JP.

Big reason for JP’s Kalalayati
JP’s non-locality was the biggest reason for his defeat. He is from Kalayat area of Kaithal district. JP had contested the election on Congress ticket in 2009, but since then he has never been attached to the people of Adampur. After 13 years, he came to contest the elections with a direct ticket.

Video of Bagdi and Gaddi goes viral
Adampur is the Bagdi linguistic region. In the election, the old video of JP went viral, in which he is talking about lifting sticks for Bagri and Gaddi, it became very viral in the election. AAP candidate Satendra had even put up the banner of ‘Main Hoon Bagri’ considering it as a fight for identity.

JP’s loss due to Kurdaram too
Kurdaram revolted after not getting a Congress ticket and joined the INLD in the fray. The Congress was expecting a massive vote from Balsamand. Kurdaram is from Jat dominated village Balsamand. Nearly ten thousand votes. On the last day, Kurdaram, after holding a public meeting in the village, took off the turban from his head and placed it on the lecturer’s stand and appealed to keep its shame. On this appeal of Kurdaram, he got good votes from Balsamand. Jayaprakash was hurt by this.

Shock to AAP’s hopes
The hopes of the Aam Aadmi Party have suffered a setback with this by-election. He wanted to go to the assembly after winning Adampur, but there was no miracle like Punjab. AAP’s Satendra Singh lost badly. The biggest of this was the stay away of other senior leadership including Arvind Kejriwal from his campaign. You have not made any special strategy here. His focus remained on the Gujarat elections.
