Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi has approved a bill to ban online gambling and regulate online games.

Let us tell you that in March, the Governor had refused to approve this bill after 131 days of passing it in the assembly. After which a situation of confrontation had arisen between the state government and the governor. After this it was sent to get passed again. According to reports, 41 people committed suicide in Tamil Nadu after losing huge amount in online gambling and playing chance based online games.

The governor had said – holding the bills, a good way to react
The governor had told a group of civil service aspirants that holding the bills was a good way of rejecting them. He called such bills dead bills.

Stalin said – Controversial comments contrary to the dignity of the House
On the rejection of this bill and the statement of the Governor, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin said that stopping the bills was against the welfare of the people of Tamil Nadu. His controversial comments are against the dignity of the House and undermine democracy and the legislature.

Stalin had said that 20 bills are still pending with the governor for approval. Those bills also include the bill to remove the governor from the post of chancellor of the state university.

The AIADMK government had also made a law
Please tell that at present there is a DMK government in Tamil Nadu. The previous AIADMK government had also enacted a similar law to regulate online gaming, but it was struck down by the court. After that DMK formed a three-member committee under the chairmanship of former Justice K Chandru after coming to the government. On the basis of whose report, after making some necessary amendments in this law, it was passed.
