Bihar Government Approves Over 75,000 Policemen Vacancies

To create a streak of 10 lakh new job opportunities in the state, the Bihar Government has announced over 75,000 vacancies in the Bihar Police Department. The Bihar Cabinet on December 20, approved the recruitment of a total of 75, 543 personnel under Bihar Police, under various categories. The development is seen as efforts made by the state government to fulfill its promise of creating 10 lakh new jobs in the state.

The Bihar cabinet has approved the creation of 7808 posts for Phase one of Emergency Response Support System, ERSS – Dial 112, of police and non-police cadres, Additional Chief Secretary, S. Siddharth stated. The Bihar government has further announced the appointment of officers for 48,447 posts will be done on the basis of direct recruitment. “The cabinet has also sanctioned 19288 posts under ERSS phase 2 recruitment,” the Additional Chief Secretary .

The move also comes in the backdrop of Bihar Government’s bid to increase the number of police personnel in the state to meet with the needs of the state’s growing population. Notably, at the closing ceremony of the “Police Week” on February 27, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar expressed his wish to increase the number of policemen in Bihar from 165 to 170 per lakh of the population.
