Good news has come from the jungles of Tiger State Madhya Pradesh. Even though the State Government may not declare Ratapani Sanctuary as Tiger Reserve, but the number of tigers and leopards in the census done here is astonishing. Officials say that there will be 60 to 80 tigers and more than 500 leopards in the century.

According to the last count i.e. 2018, there are 47 tigers and 325 leopards right now. It has become the first such century in the country, where there are maximum number of tigers and leopards. Significantly, till January 11, the physical census of tigers has been done. Now the complete data will go to the Wildlife Institute located in Dehradun. There the analysis will be done.

In the last count, the presence of tiger was found in 57 beats.

Superintendent of Ratapani Century Sunil Bhardwaj said that there are total 152 beats in Century and Obaidullaganj Forest Division. Tigers were active in 57 beats in 2018, evidence of presence has been found in 116 beats this year. At the same time, last time leopards were found in 85 beats, this time in 132 beats.

Ratapani tigers were equal to Satpura National Park

For the first time in 2018, the figures of tiger census were released according to the landscape, then the number of tigers of Satpura and Ratapani was equal. The number of tigers in Satpura was 47 on an average, while in Ratapani it was 45. Officials believe that the number of tigers will definitely increase in the census done in 2022.

Like any tiger reserve, there has been an increase in the number of tigers in Ratapani Sanctuary too. It is estimated that these are more than double. Leopards have also appeared in more than 55 per cent of the beats, which is an achievement.
