Darshan Solanki, a student from Ahmedabad committed suicide by jumping from the seventh floor of his hostel at IIT Bombay on February 12. His family had claimed that the student was facing discrimination for being a Scheduled Caste. A committee was formed to investigate the matter. The committee in its report after investigation has said that there was no caste-based discrimination against the student. According to the committee, the reason for the suicide could be the deteriorating educational performance of the student. Darshan was a first year student of B Tech (Chemical).
