Government of India approves purchase of 15 Light Combat Helicopters
The government has approved Rs 377 crore for infrastructure development.
The Cabinet Committee on Security Affairs headed by the Prime Minister has taken a big decision. The committee has approved the purchase of 15 indigenously developed Light Combat Helicopters at a cost of Rs 3,887 crore. The Defense Ministry said that 10 of these helicopters will be given to the Indian Air Force and 5 aircraft to the Indian Army. 377 crore has been approved for infrastructure development for the maintenance of these helicopters.

Case will be reopened against Bitta Karate, next hearing on April 16
The family of Kashmiri Pandit Satish Tikku has filed a petition in the Srinagar court demanding reopening of the case against the terrorist Bitta Karate. Farooq Ahmed Dar alias Bitta Karate had led the massacre of Kashmiri Pandits. He was the number one hitman of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) until his arrest in June 1990. The Srinagar sessions court on Wednesday asked the counsel for the family of Satish Tikku to file a hard copy of their petition by April 16. The next hearing in the matter will be on April 16.
In a 1991 interview, Bitta Karate had admitted to killing more than 40 Kashmiri Pandits in 1990. Bitta Karate was called the butcher of the pundits in the valley. Bitta had admitted on camera that his first victim was Satish Tikku, a Kashmiri Hindu.

Encounter between security forces and terrorists in Srinagar; Lashkar’s 2 terrorists piled up

An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar late on Tuesday night. Security forces killed two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in an encounter in Rainawari area of Srinagar. They have been identified as Rais Ahmed Bhat and Hilal Ah Raha of Bijbehara. Rais Ahmed used to run a news agency named Valley Media Service. While Hilal was a C category terrorist. Incriminating material including arms and ammunition have been recovered from them. PM Modi to attend 5th BIMSTEC summit today

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the 5th BIMSTEC summit on Wednesday. The summit to be held in virtual mode will be hosted by Sri Lanka, which is the current chair of BIMSTEC. To prepare for the summit, a meeting of senior BIMSTEC officials was held on 28 March. 4 terrorists killed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan
According to local media reports of Pakistan, 4 terrorists were killed in a gunfight with the Pakistani army and police in Lakki Marwat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. New engineering colleges will not open in the country for two more years
The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has extended the ban on setting up of new engineering institutes by two more years. The State Government’s proposal to start new polytechnics in traditional, emerging, multidisciplinary, professional areas including PPP mode as an exception may be approved.
AICTE Chairman Anil Sahasrabuddhe said on Tuesday that this step has come after the recommendation of a panel formed by the government. AICTE had put a 2-year moratorium on approving new colleges in 2020.
CUET exam may be held twice a year from next session
University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Jagdish Kumar said that the National Testing Agency (NTA) will consider conducting the Combined University Entrance Test (CUET) twice a year from the next session. Though, this year CUET will be conducted once but will consider to conduct the exam twice in a year from the upcoming session.
