The government has blocked 2 websites and 20 YouTube channels for spreading anti-national activities and fake news on the Internet. These channels and sites were identified through a joint effort of intelligence agencies and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. The YouTube channels banned by the government include The Punch Line, International Web News, Khalsa TV, The Naked Truth.

They were being operated from Pakistan. They were being used to make false and provocative posts on topics like Kashmir, Army, minority communities in India, Ram Mandir, CDS General Bipin Rawat. At the same time, YouTube channels also posted on issues of protest against agricultural laws and CAA. There was a apprehension of spoiling the atmosphere in the upcoming elections to be held in 5 states through these channels.
