Ashwin Malu, hailing from the Barmer district in Rajasthan, has emerged as a shining example of perseverance and determination by securing the 14th rank in the highly competitive Rajasthan Administrative Services (RAS) exam. The RAS exam, conducted by the Rajasthan Public Service Commission, is renowned for its difficulty, making Ashwin’s achievement all the more commendable.

Coming from a modest background with his father, Hiralal Malu, a retired teacher and his mother, Badami Devi, a homemaker, Ashwin’s journey to success has been marked by resilience. He completed his primary education in Barmer and went on to pursue a Bachelor’s in Technology with a specialization in Electronics and Computer Science from MBM University, Jodhpur. In an interview, Ashwin expressed the importance of information and communication technology in administrative services and his eagerness to utilize it effectively.

Ashwin’s initial attempts at the Union Public Services Commission’s Civil Services Exam were met with challenges, attempting the exam four times and reaching the mains twice. Despite facing setbacks, he redirected his focus towards the RAS exam, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his goal. The first attempt at the RAS exam saw him securing the 1250th position, which brought its share of societal scrutiny and challenges.

However, supported by his mother’s unwavering belief and resilience, Ashwin persevered through the difficulties. The struggle, he mentioned, extended beyond the exams as societal pressure and relatives’ opinions added to the challenges. In the face of adversity, Ashwin remained resolute, attributing his success to persistent self-study and a focused approach.

The turning point in Ashwin’s journey came in 2021 when his relentless efforts and dedication bore fruit. He not only cleared the RAS exam but secured the 14th rank, marking a significant achievement. A video captured the joyous moment as Ashwin celebrated with his parents, feeding them sweets in acknowledgement of their support.
