Banks’ Loans Rise 17.9% YoY In Two Weeks To October 21, Deposits Up 9.5%: RBI

Indian banks’ loans rose 17.9 per cent in the two weeks to October 21 from a year earlier, while deposits rose 9.5 per cent, the Reserve Bank of India’s weekly statistical supplement showed on Friday.

Outstanding loans rose Rs 29,086 crore ($3.54 billion) to Rs 128.89 lakh crore in the two weeks to October 21.

Non-food credit rose Rs 24,065 crore to Rs 128.63 lakh crore, while food credit rose Rs 5,021 crore to Rs 25,655 crore.

Bank deposits fell Rs 60,116 crore to Rs 172.04 lakh crore in the two weeks to October 21.
