Banarasi Sari Workshop Catches Fire, 5 Injured | Varanasi News – Times of India

Varanasi: Panic prevailed in congested and densely populated Bada Gambhir Singh locality under Bhelupur police station when a workshop of Banarasi sari trader caught fire on Tuesday morning.
While the fire fighters were exercising hard to extinguish the fire, a LPG cylinder also exploded in which fire brigades constables- Ajit Kushwaha and Vikas Maurya and three local natives- NakedVikas Kumar Gupta and Pappu suffered burn injuries, said deputy commissioner of police Kashi zone RS Gautam.

During initial investigation of police it came to light that a trader Imtiyaz Ahmed owns a house in Bada Gambhir Singh area of Sonarpura locality under Bhelupur police station. He runs a sari polishing unit and a show room at ground floor of the building and dwells with his family on second and third floors. Short circuit is suspected to have caused fire in the polishing unit.
Huge stock of silk saris were damaged.
