The country’s second largest Rath Yatra after the Puri Rath Yatra in Odisha is held at the Lord Jagannath Temple in Jamalpur, Ahmedabad.

A portion of the balcony of the second floor of a building collapsed on Tuesday at Dariyapur Kadianaka road in Ahmedabad. A person who was visiting the Rath Yatra died after coming under its grip. 38 people, including 3 children, have been injured and have been admitted to the Civil Hospital.

The Rath Yatra started at 7.40 am from the Lord Jagannath Temple in Jamalpur, Ahmedabad. All the three chariots reached Dariyapur at 5 pm. Here he was stopped near a temple for about 15 minutes. They left after worship. When they reached Kadianaka area, this accident happened. However, now the Rath Yatra has left from Kadianaka.

The negligence of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has also come to the fore behind this accident. Notice was to be given to all the dangerous and dilapidated houses on the Rath Yatra route. But even after investigation, no notice was issued for this house. After the accident, the injured were being taken to the hospital, then the team of the Municipal Corporation reached home after taking the notice.
