1. Nehru’s speech at UNGA as the first PM of independent India
As the Prime Minister of independent India, Jawaharlal Nehru addressed the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) for the first time on 3 November 1948. Speaking at the third UNGA in Paris, Nehru had said that I come from a country which has gained independence after a long, peaceful struggle. Our great leader (Mahatma Gandhi) taught us during the days of struggle that if good aims are to be achieved, then the paths must also be good. Nehru, in his address, had shown the way to the future of the United Nations General Assembly. He had said that hatred and violence will not solve the problems of the world. 2. Russia sent a dog into space for the first time, it was picked up from the street
On 3 November 1957, the Soviet Union launched Sputnik 2, in which a dog named Laika was also sent into Earth orbit in space. She became the first living creature to go into space. Laika was 6 kg.
