Army jawan fell from Shatabdi Express, RPF saved his life – Rail Hunt

Kolkata: Passengers were stirred when an army man fell from the running Shatabdi Express on the tracks. On the information of the control, RPF also swung into action. On reaching the spot located in the inaccessible area, the RPF immediately rushed the army jawan to the local hospital, from where he was referred to the Rampurhat Medical College. According to sources, the army jawan was traveling in 12042 Down Shatabdi Express coming from Newsalpaiguri to Howrah. For some reason he was standing at the gate of his coach.

After the train left Rampurhat, the army personnel suddenly fell down from the train between Swadinpur and Nalhati stations at around 10.30 am. Seeing the incident, other passengers started screaming. When the railway employees on duty in the train informed the top officials about the incident, there was a stir. The RPF also swung into action as soon as the information was received from the railway control. Although the incident area belonged to Rampurhat RPF, but keeping passenger safety on priority, Nalhati RPF Inspector VK Tiwari of Howrah Railway Division responded.

He somehow reached the spot along with ASI SK Singh and Constable T Kundu. The RPF immediately rushed the seriously injured Army jawan to Nalhati Sadar Hospital, from where the jawan was referred to Rampurhat Medical College for better treatment. The RPF took the injured jawan to the hospital by ambulance, where his condition remains critical.

The injured jawan was identified as Vinod Sidhoji Pavle (40) son of Sidhoji Subrao Pavle resident 55/1 Honaga under Belgaum, Karnataka. He is posted in 12 Maratha Light Infantry Battalion. The RPF informed the family of the injured jawan and his battalion about the incident. On information, the officers of the battalion also reached the hospital.
