Apple announced several new software upgrades at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), including iOS 16, watchOS 9, iPad 16, and macOS 13 or macOS Ventura. Apple also revealed the new M2 processor, which will power the newly updated MacBook Air as well as a 13-inch MacBook Pro, among other gadgets.
Apple released the M2 CPU after the M1, M1 Pro, M1 Maxand M1 Ultra CPUs. Apple believes that the M2 is more powerful and will result in considerable performance gains.
Apple’s M2 is constructed on Apple’s Arm silicon and has 20 billion transistors, which is 25% more transistors than the M1. As a result, Apple promises that the M2 will feature an 18% faster CPU and a 35% faster GPU than the M1. According to Apple, the M2 is 1.9 times quicker than the “latest 10-core PC laptop CPU.”
