Apple could bring its own password manager app that not only works across all its devices but Windows PC as well. Here’s what we know.

While the majority of tech companies are working to get rid of passwords, Apple could be moving in another direction for now. The company is reportedly going to bring a passwords app with iOS 18 this year that will help you manage these confidential details across iPhones, Macs and iPads. The report from Bloomberg suggests Apple wants to use the rumoured Passwords app as its default password manager service, something that Google has done with its own iteration for many years.

Apple’s Passwords Manager For All Devices

The details about the Passwords app suggests Apple could make it compatible with Windows PCs along with the Vision Pro headset and more.

Apple’s version of the manager seems more structured and organised, at least from what we can assume with this report. It says Apple will have categories mentioned that let you divide the passwords based on Wi-Fi networks, passkeys for different accounts.

The company could also use this feature to remind its people to switch to Face ID and Touch ID for their respective devices. The Passwords app could also double up as an authenticator app which gives you one-time authentication codes to login to various accounts without keeping one password all the time.

We could hear more about the Passwords app with the iOS 18 version at the WWDC 2024 keynote on June 10. Apple is also expected to announce its special deal with OpenAI to bring ChatGPT for iPhone users. The company is also going to showcase its AI features and tools that will be rolling out with the iPhone 16 series later this year. There could be a new-look Siri 2.0 version unveiled which is likely to be smarter and responsive to your queries. Apple is also tipped to provide AI boost to some of its default iPhone apps like voice memo, notes and more.
