Apple Could Finally Make A Much-Wanted Upgrade With M4-Powered Macs This Year: Know More – News18

Apple Macs will be offering AI features which means they need more power and memory

Apple is preparing for the big iPhone 16 launch event but the M4-powered Macs are equally anticipated especially with the new AI features.

Apple is going to launch the iPhone 16 series in a few week’s time but there is also a small matter of the new M4-powered Macs to roll out later this year. And the company seems to be planning for a big change with the new Macs with their launch rumoured for October. Apple is reportedly ending the 8GB RAM model for MacBooks and starting its lineup with a base of 16GB RAM from now on.

That’s right, the new AI-powered M4 chips could use the extra memory power to support the features and Apple might oblige by making them the base variant for the MacBook Pros that will be launching before the end of 2024.

AI Needs More Power

The M4 chip made its debut with the iPad Pro 2024 model earlier this year and we have been eager to hear more about the silicone making its way to the Macs. It seems the company is happy to bring the M4 processor to the MacBook Pros straight away and reserve the new MacBook Air, Mac Pro for an early 2025 release.

The report also points out that the M4-powered Macs will support up to 32GB memory which is a big bump on the 24GB RAM support offered with the M3-powered Macs. Apple and other tech giants have highlighted that running AI tasks and hardware requires more power and the decision to make 16GB RAM as the base option will be much welcomed. Even with the M1 or M2–powered Macs, people have felt that 8GB RAM wasn’t proving enough and most of the 16GB RAM variants seem to have gone out of the market.

Apple Intelligence features will be detailed on September 9 when the iPhone 16 series will be unveiled as well as the Siri upgrade which has been teased with the Glowtime invite by the company this week.
