The hearing health features for AirPods Pro 2 will be available this fall through a software update in over 100 countries.

AirPods 4 Gets New Force Sensor, ANC
The AirPods 4 marks a significant evolution in Apple’s headphone design, featuring an open-ear fit that uses advanced modeling techniques to ensure comfort for a wide range of users.
With enhanced sound quality, including a low-distortion driver and a high dynamic range amplifier, the AirPods 4 provide a more immersive listening experience.
Personalised Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking, Voice Isolation for clearer calls, and gesture-based Siri interactions are among the standout features enabled by the H2 chip.
For added convenience, the AirPods 4 come with a USB-C charging case that is 10 per cent smaller than the previous version while delivering up to 30 hours of battery life.
A new force sensor on the stem allows users to play or pause media, mute or end calls, adding to the headphones’ user-friendly design.
AirPods 4 with ANC brings noise-cancelling technology to an open-ear design for the first time.
The combination of upgraded microphones, the H2 chip, and computational audio helps reduce background noise, while Adaptive Audio dynamically adjusts ANC and transparency mode based on the user’s surroundings. The addition of Conversation Awareness lowers media volume when speaking to someone nearby.
AirPods Max Gets New Colourways, USB-C
AirPods Max is now available in five new colours, expanding customisation options for users.
The over-ear headphones now support USB-C charging, aligning them with Apple’s latest connectivity standards.
AirPods Pro 2 Gets Hearing Health Features
Apple is taking a major step in hearing health with the AirPods Pro 2. The new features focus on prevention, awareness, and assistance for the 1.5 billion people globally affected by hearing loss. The Loud Sound Reduction feature helps mitigate exposure to loud noises, while a new Hearing Test allows users to check their hearing at home, providing results in a personalised hearing profile stored securely in the Health app.
Additionally, AirPods Pro 2 introduce an over-the-counter hearing aid capability for use with mild to moderate hearing loss, turning the earbuds into a clinical-grade hearing aid with personalised adjustments based on the user’s hearing profile. This feature promises a seamless and discreet way to boost hearing in real-time, enhancing conversations and everyday audio experiences.
In line with Apple’s commitment to sustainability, the AirPods 4 feature recycled materials, including 100 per cent recycled rare earth elements in magnets and recycled aluminium in the hinge. Apple has also eliminated plastic from AirPods packaging, reducing environmental impact.
