Agnipath: Will Gorkhas be recruited in the Agnipath scheme? A clear answer from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

The Agnipath scheme will also recruit Gorkha soldiers into the Indian Army. After overcoming all the confusion, Foreign Office spokesperson Arindam Bagchi announced this on Thursday. In the weekly media briefing, he clarified that Gorkhas have been being recruited in the Indian Army for a long time. This time, Gorkhas will be recruited in the Indian Army under the Agnipath scheme.

According to the Kathmandu Post, concerns were recently expressed by Nepal that the tripartite agreement signed between the British, India and Nepal in 1947 may be violated this time. Apart from this, concerns were also expressed about retirement in the Agnipath scheme after four years of national service.

But this time the Foreign Office has cleared all the worries. Incidentally, on June 14, the Union Cabinet passed this Agnipatha scheme. This fire path scheme is being implemented in the Army, Air Force and Navy.

The Agnipatha scheme was also launched to provide opportunities for more youth to serve the country in the field of defence. However, from the very beginning, there were many doubts surrounding this scheme. There were various protest programs across the country.

However, those protests subsided over time. At present many have applied in the three divisions of the army under the Agnipath scheme.
