A notice from the District Court of Pune made headlines when senior advocate Indira Jaising shared it on Twitter. It was written in this notice – It is constantly being seen that women advocates get their hair done or groomed in the open court. This act disturbs the working of the court. Therefore they are directed to avoid such acts.

An official attached to the registrar’s office said that “the notice was issued only to maintain the decorum of the courtroom. It has been withdrawn to avoid any controversy.”

The matter of calling a female judge as Sir also made headlines.

In February this year, Justice Rekha Palli was hearing a case in the Delhi High Court and advocates were speaking out while calling him Sir. To this Rekha Palli objected and said that he is not Sir. The judge, who was fed up with this happening again and again, interrupted the senior advocate and said- ‘I am not sir. Hope you can see this’. On that the lawyer apologized to Tapak. Although the story did not end here, the lawyer further added – ‘I said this because of the chair you are sitting on’.
