Accused of sacrilege case slit throat in Faridkot: was in police custody, brought to lockup by hiding blade from bathroom; serious condition

Vicky Masih, the accused caught in the sacrilege case of Shri Gutka Sahib in Golewala, Faridkot, Punjab, tried to commit suicide by slitting his throat in police custody. In time, the police personnel admitted the seriously injured accused to Guru Govind Singh Medical College, where his condition remains stable. The incident has been confirmed by Sadar Faridkot police in-charge Gurjinder Singh.

On April 23, parts of Sri Gutka Sahib were torn apart and scattered on the streets and roads by two people in a car in Golewala, after which resentment increased among the people. Police-administration swung into action on the information of the incident. Police arrested the accused Vicky Masih and Roop Lal with the help of car number under the big lead found on the basis of CCTV footage.

Water ran out in the bathrooms of the prisoners
The police produced both the accused in the court and obtained police remand for 4 days i.e. till 28 April. During police remand, Vicky Masih attempted suicide by slitting his throat with a blade. The blade was found by him in the staff bathroom. That staff had reached the bathroom at a time when there was no water in the bathrooms of the prisoners. He hid the blade from the bathroom and brought it to the lockup.

Another case of attempt to suicide has been registered against the accused
While there, he attempted suicide by slitting his throat. Confirming the incident, Station House Officer Faridkot Sadar Gurjinder Singh said that the accused Vicky Masih has been admitted to the Medical College in an injured condition, where his condition is stable. They have also registered another case of attempt to suicide against the accused.
