The Railway Board has announced a reduction of up to 25% in the AC chair car and executive class fares of all trains. These concessional rates will be applicable only on those trains in which only 50% seats were filled during the last 30 days. These include trains with Vande Bharat, Anubhuti and Vistadome bogies.
The fare of trains will also depend on the competitive mode of transport. Railway Ministry has empowered Chief Commercial Managers of all Railway Zones to introduce concessional fare schemes in trains with AC seats. They will be able to fix the fare in their respective zones. In this, other charges like reservation charge, super fast surcharge, GST etc. will be levied separately.
Fare will not be refunded to passengers who have booked seats
As per the orders of the Railways, the concessional fare will be applicable immediately, but the fare will not be refunded to the passengers who have already booked the seats. It has been clarified in the order that this scheme will not be applicable to special trains run during holidays or festival season.
Only 29% seats filled in Bhopal-Jabalpur Vande Bharat Express in June
According to reports, only 29% seats were occupied in the Bhopal-Jabalpur Vande Bharat Express in the month of June. Whereas, the Indore-Bhopal Vande Bharat Express had only 21% occupancy. The fare for AC chair car from Bhopal to Jabalpur is ₹1055, while the ticket for executive chair car is ₹1,880.
However, the fare for return is different. It costs ₹955 for an AC chair and ₹1790 for an executive chair car. Apart from this, the fare of AC chair from Indore to Bhopal is ₹810 and executive chair car ticket is ₹1,510.
The seats of Nagpur-Bilaspur Vande Bharat are also not getting full.
Only about 55% seats of Nagpur-Bilaspur Vande Bharat Express are being filled. The fare for Nagpur-Bilaspur Vande Bharat Express is Rs 2,045 for executive class, while the fare for chair car is Rs 1,075.
Most passengers are traveling in Kasargod-Trivandrum Vande Bharat Express train
So far 25 Vande Bharat Express trains have been run across the country. Top Vande Bharat trains with occupancy include Kasaragod to Trivandrum (183%), Trivandrum to Kasaragod (176%), Gandhinagar – Mumbai Central (134%).
