IPS Manoj Yadav has dropped out of the race to become the Director General of Police (DGP) of Haryana. His name has also been dropped from the panel to be sent to the Centre. Home Minister Anil Vij had recommended the removal of Manoj Yadav’s name to Chief Minister Manohar Lal, which has been accepted by the CM. Earlier, IPS Manoj Yadav has been the DGP of Haryana on 21 February 2019.

During this he came on deputation from Intelligence Bureau (IB) for the post of DGP in Haryana for 2 years. After 20 February 2021, on the recommendation of the state government, his tenure was extended for a period of one year or until further orders.

Vij and IPS did not make Y Purna Kumar
Former DGP Manoj Yadav never got along with Home Minister Anil Vij and IPS Y Purna Kumar. In fact, on August 2020, a public holiday, there was a lot of controversy over the question asked by the former DGP when the then IG Y Purna Kumar went to the temple built in the police station. The IG had even given a complaint to the SP Ambala on May 19 for registering an FIR against the DGP in this matter. The DGP had also met Home Minister Anil Vij in this matter, but he shrugged it off by saying it was a matter of bureaucracy.

Vij told incompetent officer
Due to the dispute with former DGP Manoj Yadav, Home Minister Anil Vij has also raised questions on his functioning. He has already written adverse comments against him on the file sent by the Home Secretary. In these remarks, the Home Minister had not only termed Director General of Police Manoj Yadav as an incompetent officer, but had also put him in the dock for not being able to handle the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

PK Agarwal may get extension
Haryana Director General of Police (DGP) PK Aggarwal is expected to get an extension of one and a half months. The reason for this is that according to a decision of the Supreme Court, the tenure of the DGP of the state is minimum of 2 years, irrespective of his retirement. Advocate Hemant Kumar of the High Court had filed an RTI petition in the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the tenure of the DGP, in response to which the orders of the Supreme Court have been cited. After this, DGP PK Aggarwal is likely to continue in his post till August 15, although he is retiring on June 30.

Now the names of these officers in the panel
With the extension of service of 1988 batch IPS officer PK Aggarwal, the Haryana government has prepared a panel of 8 senior IPS officers for the selection of the new DGP. This panel will soon be sent to the Central Public Service Commission. A panel of 3 names out of 8 names will reach back to the state government from the Public Service Commission, out of these 3 names, the state government will appoint an IPS officer to the post of Director General of Police.

Chances of these officers too
The names of 4 police officers of ADGP rank have been included in this panel prepared by the state government. The main reason for this is that his police service has been above 30 years. An IPS officer with 30 years of service is being considered as a contender for the post of DGP of Haryana.

The panel prepared by the Haryana government includes DGP rank IPS officer Dr. RC Mishra, Director General of Prisons Mohammad Aqueel, Director General of Anti Corruption Bureau Shatrujit Kapoor and DGP Home Guard Deshraj Singh. On the other hand, the names of OP Singh, Alok Kumar Rai, SK Jain and Ajay Singhal have been added to the panel among ADGP rank IPS officers.
