Mehbooba Mufti reached Bengaluru on 20 May for the swearing-in ceremony of the Karnataka government.
Former Jammu and Kashmir CM and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti has announced in Bengaluru on Sunday that she will not contest the assembly elections until Article 370 is restored in Jammu and Kashmir, but her party will field its candidate in the elections.
During a discussion with reporters in Bengaluru, Mehbooba said that the Congress will have to make further sacrifices for not inviting several parties for the swearing-in of the Karnataka government, otherwise people have other options.
Not only this, he accused BJP and said that BJP does not want any opposition in the country. The way the Delhi government has been rendered powerless. That is going to happen to everyone.

China is now interfering in the affairs of Jammu and Kashmir which only Pakistan used to do. This is what BJP has done by removing Article 370. Our state has the largest army, where harassment and searches are happening everyday in the name of security.
Jammu and Kashmir has now become an open jail. All our passports have been confiscated. If it can happen to the family from where I was the chief minister, it can happen to anyone. That’s why I will not contest the assembly elections until Article 370 is restored, but my party will contest the elections.
The results of Karnataka raised hopes of the country: When everyone had given up, Karnataka gave a ray of hope to the entire nation. Karnataka has been fighting the politics of hatred and communalism for the last 5 years but the people here have given democracy a second chance. Now Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar will heal the wounds. Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra laid the foundation for victory in Karnataka.
The Congress did not invite several opposition parties to the swearing-in ceremony. Congress should sacrifice more, otherwise people have other options as well. Because in comparison to other parties Congress has the biggest responsibility to keep the idea of India alive.
What happened in Delhi is a wake up call for all: Whatever happened in Delhi is a wake-up call for all. BJP does not want any opposition. The Delhi government has been rendered powerless by bringing an ordinance to retain the powers of the LG. It’s going to happen to everyone.
