Prisoner Sikh gets parole in Amritsar: Gurdeep Khaira, who carried out bomb blasts in Delhi-Karnataka, came out of jail amid protests

Gurdeep Singh Khaira, a Sikh lodged in Amritsar Jail, has been granted parole amidst the ongoing protest for the release of the imprisoned Sikhs in Punjab. After coming out of jail, he is living in village Jallupur Khaira located in Amritsar.

According to the information received, Khaira has been given parole for 8 weeks. Eight years ago in 2015, he was shifted from Karnataka to Amritsar jail.

Gurdeep Khaira was born in Jallupur Khaira village of Raiya town, Amritsar. After Operation Blue Star in 1984, he joined the Khalistan Liberation Force. After this he carried out blasts in 1988-1989 first in Delhi and later in Bidar city of Karnataka.

Khaira is in jail since 1990
The police arrested him on 6 December 1990. On 15 December 1991, the court sentenced him to life imprisonment. He was also sentenced to life imprisonment till the last breath by the court there for bomb blasts in Karnataka. After completion of life imprisonment in Delhi, the Karnataka government had shifted him to its state.

Prisoner Sikhs were shifted to Punjab before 2017 elections
Before the 2017 assembly elections, the Akali Dal government had raised the issue of shifting the captive Sikhs to Punjab. After supporting the BJP government at the center, some terrorists were shifted to Punjab, agreeing to their demands.

In which Professor Bhullar and Gurdeep Singh Khaira were also there. It was the occasion when Khaira met his family after 8 years. Now Khaira has come out of jail after almost 32 years.
