2019 Naxal attack: NIA raids several locations in Jharkhand, Bihar and Bengal, policemen were killed in the attack

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday carried out searches at several places in Jharkhand, Bihar and West Bengal in connection with the Maoist attack. Five police personnel were killed in the attack. An officer gave this information.

The premises of the suspects were searched at five locations in Jharkhand (four in Seraikela-Kharsawan district and one in Ranchi) and one each in Bihar’s Munger district and West Bengal’s Purulia district, a spokesperson of the probe agency said. During the searches, digital devices and various incriminating documents were recovered, the spokesman said.

According to the NIA, a police party was attacked by cadres of the CPI (Maoist) at Kukru Haat in Seraikela-Kharsawan district on 14 June 2019. Five police personnel were killed in the attack and the arms and ammunition of the slain personnel were taken away.

The spokesperson said that initially the case was registered at a police station on June 15 and later re-registered by the NIA on December 9, 2020. During the investigation, it emerged that the accused were among the suspects of the militant outfit, the official said.
