A private bus overturned in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district on Monday morning. One person was killed and 67 others were injured in the accident. The injured mostly include students, who had left for school in the morning. At the same time, office-going employees are also included among the injured.

Police said the bus was on its way from Mongri to Udhampur city. As soon as the bus reached Krimachi-Mansar, the driver lost control at the turn. The bus overturned and fell into the ditch. Local people reached the spot as soon as they came to know about the accident. Police was also informed. The injured are being taken to the hospital.

On 15 September, a bus fell into a deep gorge near Bhimber Gali in Rajouri, killing several people. At the same time, on September 14, a mini bus had fallen into a gorge in Poonch. At least 12 people were killed and 30 were injured in this. Local people along with the army had pulled out the injured passengers trapped in the bus and taken them to the hospital.

Announcement of giving 5 lakh rupees to the family of the deceased
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had announced a grant of Rs 5 lakh to the families of all the dead and Rs 1 lakh to the injured. Along with this, orders were given to the officers for better treatment of the injured. PMNRF had also announced a grant of Rs 2 lakh to the next of kin of the dead and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
