Big split in Goa Congress: 8 out of 11 MLAs of the party will join BJP, including Digambar Kamat and Michael Lobo’s name

Eight out of 11 Goa Congress MLAs quit the party on Wednesday. All the MLAs reached the assembly along with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and handed over the separation letter to Speaker Ramesh Tavkar. Goa BJP state president Sadanand Tanawade told that all the MLAs will join the BJP.

The names of former CMs Digambar Kamat, Michael Lobo, Delia Lobo, Kedar Naik, Rajesh Faldesai, Alexo Scria, Sankalp Amolkar and Rodolfo Fernandez are among the MLAs who left the Congress.

Congress took action on Kamat and Lobo
In July this year, the Congress took action against Digambar Kamat and Michael Lobo, accusing them of being involved in an anti-party conspiracy. At that time, the Congress had shifted its 5 MLAs to Chennai to avoid break-up.

These conditions are before the Congress MLAs left the party.

10 out of 15 Congress MLAs went to BJP in 2019
Earlier in 2019, 10 out of 15 Congress MLAs had joined the BJP. Leader of Opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar was also involved in this. Goa CM Pramod Sawant had all the rebel Congress MLAs included in the BJP.
