21 kg laddus of Balapur sold for 24 lakhs: 9 people had bid; Auction of ‘Golden Laddu’ is going on for 29 years

Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated in Telangana. On this occasion, Balapur Ganesh ji’s laddus were auctioned in Hyderabad on Friday morning. The famous laddu of 21 kg from Balapur was bought for Rs 24.6 lakh. TRS leader Vengeti Lakshma Reddy won the auction of laddus, popularly known as Golden Laddu.

The laddu was bought last year in 2021 for Rs 18.9 lakh. This year 9 contestants bid for the laddus, out of which two were locals of Balapur. Of these, Vengeti Lakshma Reddy won the auction. This auction is organized by Balapur Ganesh Utsav Samiti.

Auction of laddoos being held for 29 years
Laddus is being auctioned for 29 years. Laddu was auctioned for the first time in the year 1994. A devotee bought it for Rs 450. After this the auction of Balapur Ganesh Laddu is organized every year. It is an important part of the 10-day long Ganesh Chaturthi festival in Telangana.

Let us tell you that the auction of laddus marks the beginning of the main Ganesh idol immersion procession in Hyderabad. After a journey of 19 Km, the idol of Balapur was immersed in Hussain Sagar Lake. 50 feet long eco friendly Ganesh was also immersed from Khairatabad today.

Police on high alert regarding immersion
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) said that around 38,000 idols have been installed in Hyderabad. According to the police, 9,423 large idols i.e. 3 feet and above will be immersed on Friday and Saturday. The police have been put on alert to ensure that there is no tension during the immersion. Tight security arrangements have been made. 24,132 jawans have been deployed. Along with this, barricading was done on the main procession route.

Police is monitoring with more than 739 CCTV cameras. Police have deployed 10 drones at important places and immersion sites in and around Hussain Sagar Lake. Officials said that two mobile command control centers and four cameras fitted vehicles would be pressed into service for strict surveillance.
