Two people of Shia community died
Police officials were quoted in the news as saying, ‘At the beginning of the month of Muharram, top Shia leader of Gilgit Baltistan, Agha Rahat Hussein Al Hussaini was waving the alam (flag) of Hazrat Imam Hussain at Khomar Square when there was a clash between two groups. This clash took place. According to the police, two people of the Shia community were killed in this clash. “There was also firing there, in which 17 other people were injured,” the news said. He has been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
44 suspects arrested
Home Secretary Iqbal Hussain Khan said that 44 suspects allegedly involved in the incident have been arrested. He told that on the basis of intelligence inputs, other people will be arrested. Gilgit Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid Khan said that a handful of people want to spoil the peaceful atmosphere of the city. He appealed to the people to maintain peace and cooperate with the government.
