In a world where everyone is only concerned about himself and his family, few individuals believe in the concept of “VasudhaivaKutumbakam” or “The World Is One Family” and they do everything to help even those distressed and needy people whom they don’t know personally. One such individual is Raunak Singh who is basically from Odisha’s Cuttack and is the founder of an NGO known as Sikh Aid which operates on a worldwide level. Sikh Aid has been founded on the principle of “NaamJapo, KiratKaro, VandhChakho” as Raunak believes that serving mankind is the real worship of God.

Raunak Singh had been very passionate about helping others from a very young age because of which he got involved in Sewa and this inspired him to found Sikh Aid. The NGO is serving not just people who are in distress but also those who are immersed in the devotion of God – for example just recently, during the Bhagwan (Lord) Jagannath Ratha Yatra, 50 volunteers of Sikh Aid were present there for distributing refreshments such as appy fizz, mango juice, biscuits, water bottles, and cakes to the devotees as it is very hot and humid in Puri in this time of the year. Bhagwan Jagannath Ratha Yatra is the oldest Ratha Yatra in India and devotees take part in this celebration in huge numbers despite the fact that the weather is very hot Raunak Singh along with the team of Sikh Aid also played their part in this noble and beautiful cause by distributing 1,50,000 refreshments in the Ratha Yatra.

Raunak Singh and Sikh Aid are also involved in various projects such as offering free food (langar) to the poor, helping kids belonging to the weaker sections of society in getting education for free and distributing sanitary pads to poor women for helping them hygienically manage their menstruation and so on.

Raunak Singh and Sikh Aid also saved many lives during the COVID-19 pandemic by distributing masks, sanitizers, ration kits, soaps, medicines, etc. free of cost in the first wave and by distributing oxygen cylinders in the second wave as many hospitals and patients faced problems due to insufficient supply of oxygen.

The organization which serves people irrespective of their religion, gender, caste, etc. has worked extensively during times of crisis whether it was Cyclone Titli (2018), Cyclone Fani (2019), Odisha flood (2020), or Cyclone Yaas (2021). Sikh Aid not only fed the victims free of cost in challenging times but also built their homes which got destroyed due to the natural calamities.

Raunak Singh is also very concerned about the elderly of our society not only free medicines are provided to many old people but he has also built an AnantAasharam for those elderly persons who have no place to live.

Raunak Singh and his NGO Sikh Aid have become very famous because of the noble work carried out by them and we hope that many other youngsters will also join them in serving the needy and bringing smiles to their faces.
