RRR Becomes 1st Indian Film To Be Nominated For Best Picture Category At HCA Awards

New Delhi: ‘RRR’ released on March 25, 2022. Yet, the film remains in headlines for a number of reasons. Off late Hollywood celebs and film technicians have appreciated the SS Rajamouli film from various perspectives like cinematography, action, design etc. Its praise has been so much that Ram Charan and Jr. NTR strarrer earned itself a nomination under the Best Picture criteria at the Hollywood Critics Association ( HCA) Awards. The film will also be competing with 9 other Hollywood films.

It is a proud moment for the Indian film fraternity as ‘RRR’ becomes the first Indian film to achieve this feat.’RRR’ is up against films like ‘Top Gun Maverick’ starring Tom Cruise, ‘The Batman’ starring Robert Pattinson, ‘Elvis’, ‘Marcel The Shell with Shoes On’, ‘Turning Red’, ‘Cha Cha Real Smooth’, ‘Everything Everywhere all At One’, ‘The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent’ and ‘The Northman’.

The announcement came in when RRR’s official Twitter handle shared the news on it’s handle. “Happy to see #RRRMovie nominated for Best Picture @HCACritics #RRR”, their tweet read.

Not only has ‘RRR’ become one of the most popular films on Netflix, the film has received rave reviews from well-known Hollywood screenwriters, directors and producers among others.

Besides Ram Charan and Jr. NTR, the film also stars Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran, Alison Doody, Ray Stevenson, Olivia Morris, and Samuthirakani.

‘RRR’ fictionalizes the lives of two freedom fighters and coincides them to create a duo fighting the British colonial rule in India.

According to IMDb, the film’s current box office collection stands at Rs 1200 crores. ‘RRR’ also earned 850 crores within a week of its release making it a record breaking film earning Rs. 100 crores everyday.
